Chalten is located 220 km from Calafate along Provincial Route 11, National Route 40 and Provincial Route 23.

Chalten combines the magic of glaciers, hidden lagoons, touristic farms, the Lago Viedma and Fitz Roy's magnetic presence. The top of its unique and imposing silhouette is almost always covered by a cloud. This cloud, given Tehuelches' confusion confused this cloud with smoke, naming the hill, as Chalten means volcano.

The area offers a privileged setting with multiple alternatives practicing outdoor and mountain sports and activities.

In this area you can take dozens of itineraries. From visiting panoramic spots only a few minutes walk and minimum difficulty to several days expeditions or climbing major vertical walls exclusively reserved for the best climbers.
