Perito Moreno Glacier Full Day Tour

The trip:
This tour departs from the city of Calafate and covers the 80 kilometers to get to the Perito Moreno Glacier. You will first see steppe environments and farms with sheep. You may also see some of the Patagonian fauna, such as guanacos and foxes.

You will also you get great views of Lake Argentino. As you head west and closer to the mountains, the vegetation begins to change and becomes more abundant. Once inside National Park Los Glaciares, the area becomes a forest. The landscape becomes one with a lake and mountains covered with vegetation along with the snow.

The glacier:
Once you reach the Perito Moreno Glacier, you can take different routes to get spectacular views. The visitor is located a few meters in front of the glacier, only separated by an icebergs channel. From this sight you can look at the different detachments. It is also possible to take boat trips between the icebergs to be in front of the wall of the Perito Moreno. The rest of this experience is difficult to explain.... It just must be experienced!

The Perito Moreno Glacier is located in Patagonia, in the south of Argentina, in the so-called Southern Ice Field. It spans on the South Arm of Argentino Lake. Its front is over five kilometers long and it's sixty meters high. It was named after Francisco Moreno, the creator of the Argentinean Scientific Society and active explorer of the southern area.
