Perito Moreno Glacier Trekking / Full Day Tour

The beginning
The tour starts from Calafate on Provincial Route 11 along Lago Argentino, you will then enter the National Park Los Glaciares and reach the Bajo de las Sombras pier. From there you will take a boat from the mainland of Magellan, sailing for 20 minutes to cross to the other side of the Brazo Rico.

You will also you get great views of Lake Argentino. As you head west and closer to the mountains, the vegetation begins to change and becomes more abundant. Once inside National Park Los Glaciares, the area becomes a forest. The landscape becomes one with a lake and mountains covered with vegetation along with the snow.

The walk
After an introductory talk, you will take a 30 minutes walk over a mountain forest path bordering the Lago Argentino. You will then reach a shelter where the guides will give you technical instructions together with the crampons.

Trekking on the Glacier
You will climb the glacier slowly to appreciate the amazing show of the walls and cracks. The glacier's shades and tonalities vary according to the intensity of the light. The tour lasts for approximately 2 hours. The Glacier Trekking is one of world's most famous tours. It is hard to describe the feeling you get while walking on this immense ice mass, as this is one of the fewest glaciers in the world that are not melting.

Return
The tour returns along a path from which you will get a different view of the glacier, and will get a picnic lunch at the shelter. During the boat crossing back on the Brazo Rico you will see part of the Perito Moreno Glacier walls. The tour ends with a panoramic view of the glacier from the catwalks.
